Easy installation of Ambicore ambient LEDs: step-by-step instructions for beginners

With the Ambicore ambient LED set you can give your vehicle a unique look. This guide will guide you step by step through the installation of the LEDs, even if you are a layman. Follow these instructions to achieve a professional installation.

Materials required:

  • Ambicore ambient LED set (2 zones, 3 zones or 4 zones )
  • main control unit
  • mini control units (for each door)
  • cable ties
  • shrink tubing
  • cable lugs
  • fuse taps
  • screwdriver
  • Tongs
  • Heat gun or lighter (for shrink tubing)

Step 1: Preparation

  1. Parking and securing: Park your vehicle on a level surface and secure it. Turn off the ignition and remove the key.
  2. Disconnect the battery: Disconnect the battery to ensure that no electric shock or short circuit occurs during installation.

Step 2: Connect the main control unit

  1. Choose a location: Choose a suitable location for the main control unit, near the fuse box.
  2. Power supply: Use a power thief clamp to connect the main control unit to a suitable fuse in the fuse box. The cigarette lighter fuse is ideal as it provides power when the ignition is on.
    • Note: Make sure that the selected fuse is only active when the ignition is switched on to prevent the battery from discharging.

Step 3: Install mini control units

  1. Prepare doors: Remove the door panels from each door to gain access to the interior.
  2. Place mini controllers: Place a mini controller in each door. An ideal location is near the power window switch or at the bottom of the door.
  3. Power supply: Connect the mini controller to the door's power supply using the wires that go to the door controller and use power thief clamps to ensure a secure connection.
    • Note: Make sure you use the correct power source that only supplies power when the ignition is on.

Step 4: Install LED strips

  1. Installing the light strips: Install the LED strips in the designated locations – four in the doors and two on the dashboard.
  2. Shortening: Cut the light strips to the appropriate length if necessary. Make sure that you can shorten them at any point.
  3. Fastening: Use the included adhesive strips or your own material such as hot glue or cable ties to attach the control units and cables behind the door.
    Light strips can be pressed into the desired strips with pressure or attached with previously warmed double-sided adhesive.

Step 5: Install additional LEDs (for 3 zones and 4 zone sets)

  1. Compartment and door lighting: Install the LEDs for the compartment and door lighting anywhere you want, such as the drinks compartment, coin compartment, etc.
  2. Speaker LEDs: (Only for 4 Zone Set) Install the speaker LEDs behind the speaker grilles. Be careful to attach the LEDs securely and not to damage any speakers.

Step 6: Wiring and termination

  1. Wiring: Connect all LEDs and mini controllers according to the connectors ( M and S )
    M = 7 Colors Without Effect
    S = RGB with effect.
    M connectors are suitable for the footwell/door handle and compartment LEDs
    S connectors are suitable for the light strips and the speaker LEDs. Make sure that all connections are tight and secure.
  2. Bluetooth connection: Make sure that the main control unit and the mini control units communicate with each other via Bluetooth. This only happens after all control units are connected.
  3. Final inspection: Check all connections, secure loose cables with cable ties and shrink the heat shrink tubing for a clean finish.

Step 7: Test and configure the system

  1. Connect the battery: Reconnect the vehicle battery.
  2. Test system: Turn on the ignition and test the lighting system. Make sure that all LEDs are working correctly.
  3. App Control: Scan the QR code on the mini controllers, download the Ambicore app and connect to the system. Adjust the lighting effects as you like.

Tips and Tricks:

  • Neat wiring: Make sure all cables are neatly routed and securely fastened to avoid rattling noises.
  • Customization: Use the Ambicore app to customize the lighting and create unique effects.
  • Retrofittable: If necessary, the system can be easily dismantled at any time, for example, to be taken into a newly purchased vehicle.

With these instructions, installing the Ambicore ambient LED set should be a breeze. Enjoy the new, stylish lighting in your vehicle and make every journey a special experience.

A NOTICE:
If you don't already have an ambient LED set, make sure you don't buy cheap imitations. Unfortunately, with cheaper alternatives, light strip failures are the order of the day. After all, you only want to go through the hassle of installing it once and enjoy your high-quality lighting for a long time.
